Hey! I am Betsabe Alonzo, a graduate of the School of Visual Arts. I’m an illustrator, passionate about communicating and creating stories with my work. I love creating funny child-like images, with the goal of making people giggle. 

 

Here are a few things you should know about me. I did not grow up in one place but in multiple areas. I moved around the states all of my childhood, because of military orders my Dad would receive. I saw and met many different types of people and cultures, which sounds exciting. I did not think so.

 

 Not only was moving every three years hard, but going to different schools, trying to make new friends, and trying to fit in were hard. In the midst of all the experiences and learning to embrace my uniqueness, artistic freedom gave me comfort. It became a safe space.

 

I feel the need to bring joy to kids like me through my work. I sometimes like to communicate anything that could be relatable, in a silly way. And other times I just like to draw silly stuff, for my enjoyment and the enjoyment of others. Stories are fun, and I communicate that best with my skills as an illustrator.
